Clinical LAN
The internal, trusted clinical network where most hospital systems live and talk to each other.
When to use it
Place systems here when they operate inside the organization's trusted boundary.
In plain terms
The staff-only interior of the building.
Common gotchas
- "Trusted" is not "unsegmented" — many sites further VLAN-separate clinical traffic.
- Cross-zone traffic (to DMZ or cloud) still needs firewall rules.
- Assume PHI flows here; it's in scope for security controls.
